TRX stands for Total-body Resistance (e)Xercise! And that's exactly what it gives you - a whole-body workout!
What is it?
The TRX itself is a set of straps that attach to a bar in the ceiling, extending into two handles which can be held, or be used to put your feet into. This means that every exercise done uses all or part of your bodyweight, and therefore highlights one of the major benefits of working out in this fashion - you're always using your 'Core'.
Why should I use this?
Core Strength
Core is a buzzword in this industry that gets chucked around a lot but basically its your centre, all the muscles surrounding your pelvis and spine - and that's a lot!
Whole Body Strength and Tone
Every muscle gets worked in a TRX class, and you'll know it too! From the legs and glutes to the core and arms, nothing can hide from this inspiring method of exercise.
Flexibility
The TRX gets you moving. In a society where technology is causing us to become more sedentary by the decade, this form of exercise immediately encourages you to move; exactly what the body was designed to do.
Sports Performance
Because of the functionality of the type of exercise, training with the straps is strongly related to various different sports and activities. It will improve your core strength for running, so you're not wasting energy in unwanted movements. Swimmers will benefit greatly as the TRX will improve your flexibility through your spine and shoulders so you're more efficient in the water. Finally, it's great for cyclists to gain strength and power through your glutes - a muscle the provides most strength through the pedals most cyclists don't fully utilise!
